Our team of techs recently uncovered a new site set to rollout the beginning of April that shows great promise as a good, secure source for all types of battery replacement needs. We ran into them at a trade show recently, and they are a major distibutor of sealed lead acid batteries that is just now moving into the online market. They plan to offer sealed lead acid, AGM, and Odyssey drycell batteries at distributor direct prices, on their site, BatteryMania.com.
We focus on APC UPS units and APC UPS Battery or RBC battery replacement, and after several minutes of grilling their sales guys at the show, we were convinced that they really do know all about UPS batteries, and a number of other SLA applications as well. After looking over their Military Grade Odyssey AGM batteries, one of our crew has been trying to figure out how much run-time he could get out of a Matrix UPS loaded up with Odyssey batteries! Don't start tinkering yourself just yet, we don't know how that is going to work out!!
The Odyssey batteries are really intended to improve battery life and performance in intensive application like powersports, but our guys just think in terms of UPSes....but if you have a motorcycle, ATV, or jetski, or even a dune buggy or 4 wheeler, they make a great upgrade that will never freeze, and can't be discharged like regular lead acid batteries.
As it turns out, we had our annual fire safety inspection a few weeks ago, and found out that the batteries in several of our emergency lights were dead, so the Batterymania.com guys were happy to give us the exact ones we needed, and they tell us there will be a whole section on the site devoted to emergency lighting batteries, as well as alarm system batteries and fire alarm batteries.
At any rate, we were impressed with both their knowledge and their inventory of batteries, so we decided that it would be good to offer them a welcome to the online battery community, and that lots of our subscribers could probably use their help with batteries, even if it just new scooter batteries for your kids, or mobility batteries for your elderly loved ones. Check them out, starting in April, for all your battery needs!
